The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group has denied involvement in the deadly suicide attack in Jalalabad – the capital city of Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.
A spokesman for the terror group in Afghanistan Sheikh Muslim Dost has ruled out the group’s involvement in the attack.
“ISIS was not behind the deadly blast in Jalalabad, and we condemn such an attack. This is an act of the Pakistani agencies to damage reputation of the ISIS,” Sheikh Muslim quoted by The Daily Beast newspaper has said.
At least 35 people were killed and more than 100 others wounded detonated his explosives near the Kabul Bank branch in Kukhaberat square in Jalalabad earlier this week.
The same branch was stormed by suicide bombers in 2011 leaving at least 42 killed and dozens of others wounded.
The Taliban militants group immediately rejected involvement of the group behind the deadly attack.
Nangarhar is among the relatively volatile provinces in eastern Afghanistan where anti-government armed militant groups are actively operating a number of its districts and often carry out insurgency activities.
